I will have to give the USA and Canada credit for this: Muslim immigrants, based on what I've read, seem to fare better in these two nations than they have in other Western nations...
It's curious to see how Australia who can systematically deport every illegal is "tolerant", whereas Europe where deportation are rarest is "racist and xenophobe".

That's probably because hardly anyone is really familiar with Europe on here.

That's a bit of a smokescreen to appease the public. Australia has quite a high refugee intake per capita. It's difficult for a country to be called "racist and xenophobe" when a huge chunk of the population is from overseas. A huge amount of Australians have a foreign born parent or grandparent. Even most Aboriginal people have ancestors from overseas.

Funny as an Australian I get completely the opposite impression.

Half of Australians have at least one foreign born parent, and every one of Australia's 5 major cities is home to people born in over 200 countries. I suppose you could say Australia is a land of Xenophobic immigrants.

Australia is an immigrant country so I can't see how it can be xenophobic when the majority of the country originates somewhere else.
Ha, then you must not have met many xenophobic Australians. All those racists here and in the US, they're immigrants or their recent ancestors of immigrants, are they not? Even many of the immigrants have pretty racist views, who said immigrants couldn't be racist? Many are from the UK, NZ.etc who identify with white-Anglo culture. I've heard Italian immigrants saying some pretty racist things about aborigines..even those from Asia often have racist views themselves...not saying most do, but immigrants can be just as racist.
