Well, I've done quite a bit of travel in my notoriously ill-spent youth, picked up Spanish, Refuse to speak French or to ever go back, liked Germany, England has the worst food, Spain or Portugal may have the best, it's a multifacited tie with New Orleans and San Francisco also in the running. The most beautiful language I have ever heard was/is Efik. Yeah, I know, this is a tribal language and you've never heard of it, that's because it is only spoken in about a 20 square mile section of West African rainforest. Actually it is not a spoken language, rather it is sung. The key in which a word is spoken changes the meaning of the word and when a large crowd is all talking at once it is symphonic. They also put a phonic "O" on the end of a variety of words, the "O" is always sung in finest operatic voice. "Good Morning" is "Mesiere"- may ser eh and is pronounced May-SER-eh-OOOOOOOOOH, and tonally, that "OOOOOOOOOH" goes all over the musical scale.
Which variety? Brazilian or Portuguese? They sound quite different from each other, in fact, some Brazilians hardly understand the European variety.
