News flash: From around the 1500s to the 1800s, the English/British became masters of global navigation and industrialization, they conquered a good chunk of the otherwise stone age/agricultural world, including two virtually virgin continents (with all due respect), North America and Australia, and the Canadians, Americans (US) and Australians are virtually their children to a significant extent genetically and certainly culturally.
