I've been to 46 states, most of Canada (except Nunavut, Newfoundland % Labrador and Yukon).
I've visited 46 countries. I've lived in 4 countries. I have 3 passports. Just like Danielsa, if I were to put it all down, it would be too long of a list.
My favorite places:
Luang Prabang, Laos (I like Laos and Laotians in general)
Buenos Aires
Istanbul (I love Turkiye Cumhuriyet)
Paris (in all 4 seasons... just like the song)
Tahiti, away from Papeete (I had a car)
Australia (it was my home for several years)
Venice in the winter time, I'm convinced its the only time of year one should go there.
Places I would not go out of my way to return:
Bangkok (I'm just not into crowds)
Jakarta (same reason as Bangkok)
Detroit (though I love the Detroit Institute of Arts)
Things that surprised me:
I've met kind nice people everywhere I've been. All it took was some common sense, politeness, an interest in their culture and a smile.
Florence was full of Americans, even in off season.
New Yorkers standing on the west side highway 24 hours a day, rain and shine, to thank firefighters as they drove past in the weeks after 9/11. And how people bonded. Showed true character which I admired.
By the time I was ready to leave my life in Australia and return to North America that I had developed a craving for vegemite and most things Australian.
Things that made me sad:
Seeing a sign on the road from Siem Reap Airport into town, in multiple languages, that pedophilia is a crime in Cambodia.
Sex tourism in Thailand.
Sitting in a beach in Pattaya and remembering that 6 months prior, people died on that beach during the tsunami (I packed up and stayed at my hotel's pool).
I was in Bali 2 months after the bombing and how people were on tourist dollars and I was the target for cash. I don't really blame them, but it made me sad as the Balinese are lovely people.

Impossible for me to remember all the American cities I've been to...
