I've been to 46 states, most of Canada (except Nunavut, Newfoundland % Labrador and Yukon).
I've visited 46 countries. I've lived in 4 countries. I have 3 passports. Just like Danielsa, if I were to put it all down, it would be too long of a list.

My favorite places:
Luang Prabang, Laos (I like Laos and Laotians in general)
Buenos Aires
Istanbul (I love Turkiye Cumhuriyet)
Paris (in all 4 seasons... just like the song)
Tahiti, away from Papeete (I had a car)
Australia (it was my home for several years)
Venice in the winter time, I'm convinced its the only time of year one should go there.

Places I would not go out of my way to return:

Bangkok (I'm just not into crowds)
Jakarta (same reason as Bangkok)
Detroit (though I love the Detroit Institute of Arts)

Things that surprised me:
I've met kind nice people everywhere I've been. All it took was some common sense, politeness, an interest in their culture and a smile.
Florence was full of Americans, even in off season.
New Yorkers standing on the west side highway 24 hours a day, rain and shine, to thank firefighters as they drove past in the weeks after 9/11. And how people bonded. Showed true character which I admired.
By the time I was ready to leave my life in Australia and return to North America that I had developed a craving for vegemite and most things Australian.

Things that made me sad:

Seeing a sign on the road from Siem Reap Airport into town, in multiple languages, that pedophilia is a crime in Cambodia.
Sex tourism in Thailand.
Sitting in a beach in Pattaya and remembering that 6 months prior, people died on that beach during the tsunami (I packed up and stayed at my hotel's pool).
I was in Bali 2 months after the bombing and how people were on tourist dollars and I was the target for cash. I don't really blame them, but it made me sad as the Balinese are lovely people.

Should I have said Stockholm and Uppsala instead?

That'd be odd since I never lived in those two cites

Impossible for me to remember all the American cities I've been to...
I assume we're not counting airport visits or suburbs right? It's best not to. As far as foreign cities go I'll try to list them in somewhat chronological order. Cities that I only stepped out of the train station for a quick walk around are italicized.

Sofia, Bulgaria
Plovdiv, Bulgaria

Taipei, Taiwan (and Danshui but some might consider it a suburb)
Taichung, Taiwan
Tainan, Taiwan

London, England
Salisbury, England
Dover, England
Canterbury, England
Brighton, England
Cardiff, Wales,
Edinburgh, Scotland

Bruxelles, Belgium
Brugges, Belgium

Lisbon, Portugal
Faro

Paris, France (and Versailles)
Strasbourg, France

Zurich, Switz
Lucerne
Interlaken

Milan, Italy

Rome
Florence

Napoli
Venice

Vienna, Austria

Munich, Germany
Dachau
Stuttgart (I was asleep when the train passed thru Heidelberg )
Frankfurt
Berlin
Potsdam

Shanghai, China
Hangzhou
Wuxi
Nanjing
Huangshan
Hong Kong
Macau

For me at least, my Eurail pass didn't cover the Czech Republic That's one of the few regrets I have about my travels.
