Having low birthrates is great for the individual parents if they don't want kids-after all they can afford so many meaningful things like a new BMW instead. But for the nation and society it is economically devastating as we will soon see.

I thought these statistics were interesting. Some countries are having less children and will have population shortage in the future with sub-replacement levels.
