You are so full of yourself. Scandinavians are used to constant bashing (climate, size, socialism, and so on), especially from Americans. The level of ignorance from Americans is just staggering.
Alcohol consumption in Norway is actually lower than in the US. The suicide rate is not much higher.

I love it when someone calls me ignorant. Judgmental works just fine, but ignorant not so much. I made no reference to any of those attributes listed above. They don't interest me. What I'm drawing on is the social climate in American cities such as Seattle and Minneapolis where Scandinavians set the social tone as a result of their being the early settlers of these zones. Having lived in one of the two, I can definitely tell you that the area's vibe is "Mediterranean 'personalities' need not apply." They have threads about "the Seattle Freeze" ad nauseum. There were articles in the Seattle Times where the Univ. of Wash.'s professors even cited the social code set by the dominant Scandinavian culture as to why newcomers had a hard time adjusting and why the social effervescence of the metro area was kind of flat. Seattle and Miami feel totally different, no? Then, Oslo and Athens feel totally different as well. OTOH, Seattle and Vancouver feel reasonably similar, as do Jacksonville FL and Houston TX.
This poll is about personal preference as to where someone would/would not want to live. As for the Scandinavians, they get high marks from me (not that they care) for orderliness, progressive thinking, good social services, efficiency, civic-mindedness, and natural beauty. Would I fit in? I feel reasonably certain that I would not.
ETA: gotta love the abundance of locked profiles.

Read #144. No one said that.
And there is no doubt that depression and alcoholism are rampant among native Indian tribes living in the colder northern parts of interior provinces of Canada. One can easily find articles and references talking about Canadian mental health and different demographic breakdowns.

There are some decent suburban areas in the US, and suburbia within easy reach of the city (and entertainment) is often very pleasant, it's when suburbia becomes so uniformed and so cut off from amenities and the city that it becomes a living hell.
The thing with the US is that everything is on a much bigger scale than Europeans are used to. You have rural states that are many times bigger than countries such as Britain and which are more cut off from the cities and centres of population than most Europeans are used to, whilst you have suburbs that seem never ending in certain areas, on a scale most Europeans simply aren't used to.

I laughed seeing these pictures. Which cities are they? How does someone living there locate their home everyday?

Very little suburbs look like that in America anymore. Most suburbs utilize actually pretty impressive looking McMansions to spice up the architectural scene of the suburbs, therefore I'd say American suburbs are almost less monotonous than Britain's, sorry. It's rural areas and suburbs around touristy areas for some reason that have more cheap looking, cookie cutter buildings, and those are very few and far between nowadays.

Yeah. We don't want you in Seattle either. To be perfectly honest, I literally can't stand the personality type you describe as Meditteranean or whatever, and yeah Im a Seattlite. I never understood why the hell you people are the way you are. Is there some reason you try to talk to people you don't know? Is there a reason you always seem so goddamn happy for no reason? :-P Honestly it makes me want to punch you in the face heh
