Although partly a parody I've thought of this because in my family both sexes were encouraged/expected to maintain certain standards. Also it seems like the culture now almost expects men to be crass, sex-obsessed, perpetual adolescent slobs. In the US, my country, men tend to be less religious than women.

So are their countries/cultures where

*Sexual restraint is preferred for both men and women.
*Excessive gambling or drunkenness is discouraged for both men and women.
*Protecting those weaker than themselves is encouraged of an able bodied man.
*Both sexes go to church or temple with the same frequency.
*Both sexes are expected to maintain some modesty in public.
*Men are discouraged from using foul language around children.
*They are expected to be fathers to the children they sire.
*They are expected to take responsibility for their actions.
*They are taught respect for their elders and women.

Not entirely sure all these are desirable, but I'm pretty traditional if it's applied equally to both sexes. I would have preferred if men had been given higher moral standards rather than lowering sexual/moral standards for women.

Do a search for "Theocracy"

Here's a few of them:
- Israel
- Saudi Arabia
- The Vatican
- Iran

Israel isn't a theocracy. And Iran and Saudi have a clear double-standard where men can have multiple sexual partners while women can't. Still I see the problem, and the thread this was spun from is gone, so I'll alter what I said.

The new improved list of tradition/virtue

*Promiscuity is as, culturally, discouraged for men as women or nearly so. (I'm thinking this happens nowhere)
*Excessive drunkenness or reckless driving is discouraged for both men and women.
*Protecting those weaker than themselves is encouraged of an able bodied man.
*Both sexes are equally religious or equally irreligious.
*Men try to behave a bit better around children, clergy, and their parents.
*Men who are sane and not in prison are supposed to be involved in their offspring lives.
*They are encouraged to take responsibility for their actions.
*They are encouraged to respect others.
*They are encouraged to have integrity.
*They are encouraged to have decent hygiene.
*None of these are forced by law, they're just cultural.

I'm not all that serious about this though.

Japan comes to mind. So does Ireland. Brazil, Italy, and Spain have macho men but also have a history of sexing up their women.

The UAE have very strict rules ... as does Saudi Arabia.

Ha, Japan!? The way they treat their girls is awful. Do you know what sharking is? Tourism sites have to advise women to be careful where they end on trains and what times of day without some kind of escort or group with all the groping that everyone just seems to ignore there. They actually have to put signs up telling people not take pics up girls skirts cause it's so common. If I ever go there, you'd be able to find me just based on all the red handprints on guys faces in the area.

i consider myself in the light that you have put forth as that of the correct man.
but that is not what the average woman wants or admires. the woman that values those good qualities is the exceptional woman-- not the typical. lucky for me there are still a few around.

Because I like to do a "mock serious" thing that's half-serious and half-joking.

For example I could say "What culture or country would best for a human clone? By that I mean...

*Give the clone full and equal legal rights to a non-cloned human.
*Prohibit any discrimination against clones in housing or jobs.
*Be accepting of clones in social situations and have a lack of prejudice for human clones as neighbors.
*Have the support structure needed to deal with any medical issues of said clone.
*Lack anyone fanatically against clones or any anti-clone hate groups.

Note I'm not that serious about this."
