This requires a two-part explanation:

(1) Back in the day... like the 1950s... when people went to a drive in movie, they would park beside a pole that had a speaker hooked up to it, like the Flintstones are doing.

Here are the real-life ones:

(2) Back in an even earlier era... the 1800s... people who had difficulty hearing would often use an "ear trumpet" made out of a ram's horn to amplify sound, like a primitive hearing aid. Here's an example:
Action for Access - Changing Perceptions of Disability in American Life

So the cartoon is merging the two 'technologies' for the visual gag.

As far as what the Flintstones would have called that thing, I have no idea.

The cartoon design is modeled after a horn of plenty (cornucopia or Horn of Amalthea). It's a stylized goat's horn.

Wow!, that's cool...what a thought. I used to watch Flintstones, but never went through all that history, great!

being that it is the flintstones and looking at the suture pattern, I would suspect it to be an ammonite, of the slightly curved variety.
