I am writing a research paper based on the construction of thoughts in the novel Invitation to a Beheading by Nabokov. My essay is fourteen pages and I have one primary source and seven secondary sources. Regarding citations and sources, I was wondering if it is better to have only one paragraph dedicated to each source or if it is better to let that source flow naturally, weaving it in and out of the essay where it is needed. I am leaning towards the second, letting it flow naturally. What I mean by this is that I might use a source on page one, but then not again until page nine because I am then talking about a different subject of the novel. Is it acceptable to use the source occasionally throughout the paper or should the source be contained to one specific area of the research paper and not be mentioned again? My professor is pretty easy going regarding our own decisions, but literature always makes me a little nervous.

Are you having to do in line citations? Or just a bibliography at the end?
When I write papers I use what ever source and put it where ever it needs to be. There is a bit of back and forth, but that's how it goes to make it work.
Yes, I do have to do in line citations and a works cited page at the end. So, I will be quoting directly. I'm just wondering if it's OK to introduce someone on page 1, quote them, and then reintroduce and quote them on a different subject on say, page nine when I have already used other sources in between that time.
