I'm writing a novel (fiction) for my grand-daughter. I have some longer chapters and some are shorter. I'm writing one chapter now that might not even add up to one page.
I can't add it onto any other chapter.
Is that acceptable or would it be strange to have a short part-page chapter? It is an important part of the story, but I can eliminate it totally if I have to.

Absolutely. I've read novels with chapters comprising a single sentence. There are other novels that don't divide into chapters at all.
This is a matter of form. Do what you want. Think of rock and roll. The Beatles recorded a song - Her Majesty - that clocks in at 23 seconds long. Pink Floyd used up the entire second side of an album with another song - Echoes - that goes on for over 23 minutes. In both cases, the broke 'the rules'. And rules in art are meant to be broken.

Yes, I've seen that before.
No need for the "(fiction)". A novel is by definition fiction.

Brings to mind the last chapter of Angela's Ashes.
I did this. My first book has lots of short chapters. Partly because the way it is written. In the next book I adopted the same thing to some extent but for a different reason. People who read my first book liked the fact they could read it in bits. One chapter while waiting for a train to clear the street, or while sitting on the toilet, or while waiting for kids to come out from school.
My current book has 90 chapters. Each one is short enough to be read in the time most people sit on the toilet for number 2. I am going to market it as a "90 p**p book."
