This is our first Summer in Casper. We are absolutely LOVING the lack of humidity. 86 feels like 86 and not 106. But I digress...

I have been seeing/hearing commercials for a wide variety of festivals in the state. Like the Bighorn Mountain Shindig. And Frontier Days in Cheyenne. And just today I found out there is a big parade in Casper next week & the whole city pretty much shuts down to attend.

So what is "can't miss"? And which ones are worth the drive from Casper?

Sheridan Rodeo is this week. Live bands, street dances, rodeo, pretty much something doing all week. Check out Sheridan Media's website and there should be a list.

Frontier Days in Cheyenne is a must see, but you may be out of luck this year. Motels are booked a year in advance. You might give it a try though, there may have been cancellations.

I haven't been to it since the early 70s, but Worland used to have a big Octoberfest celebration.

Moorcroft is having their annual Jubilee this weekend. I've heard it's quite a party but have never been to it.

Hulett has a big party each year in conjunction with the Sturgis Bike Rally. Again, never been to it.

If you like rodeos but haven't made plans for Cheyenne Frontier Days, Gillette will be hosting the National High School Finals Rodeo July 18-24. It's probably the second biggest rodeo in Wyoming this year, and I just read in the paper the other day that the hotels are not sold out for it. They were holding rooms for the teams, but several hundred rooms were just turned back, so I'm sure there wouldn't be a problem there.

I've always wanted to attend Rendezvous Days in Pinedale, but that's this weekend.

probally over for the year , but Rawhide in Lusk.
there are some great county fairs, going to make the steer ropeing finals at the polo grounds in Sheridan one year.
Basque Festivals, sheep days, to dog trails, ranch rodeo to rodeos most every town has something during one week during the summer.

Look into Gaudy Maude in Star Valley Ranch. This will be the 2nd annual. I think its in August. Hot air balloons, games, food, a good climbing wall. I went last year small but good.
