Snowy Range Ski Area gearing up to open in Wyoming
Thursday, November 19, 2009
The Associated Press
LARAMIE, Wyo. -- The Snowy Range Ski Area is scheduled to open in late November this year.
The Medicine Bow National Forest announced that the downhill slopes 30 miles west of Laramie will open under the management of the First National Bank of Wyoming.
The bank took control of the ski area last year when its owners sunk too far into debt.
More than 20,000 people per year visit the ski area, which is located on Wyoming Highway 130 near the mountain town of Centennial.
The ski area is scheduled to open Nov. 28.

I don't have time to respond to all of these posts, but I thought I would clear up a couple misconceptions here. The previous owners of the ski area defaulted on their loan, therefore the bank I work for (First National Bank of Wyoming) took possession of the ski area. Though we have had a great deal of success operating the ski area we are under pressure from regulators to sell it. We are considering many options including a group of investors with partial financing. If you have specific questions please contact me at tcartwright@fnbwyo.com and I will do my best to answer. Thanks for your interest in keeping this valuable asset afloat.
