Considering Employment Sheridan from Michigan (for sale, real estate, rentals)

I am considering a position in sheridan and currently reside in a suburb north of detroit. Aside from my personal reasons, like lack of michigan sports, is there anything we should know about the area before moving. Bugs, spiders, snakes, climate, people, etc....? We have two kids, boy 6 and girl 2, anyone know how the schools are in the area?

Also I have been trying to locate rental properties, houses especialy or larger condos, but cant find anything. Anyone have a place to look?

Now I'm not from Wyoming, I'm more near Michigan instead. If you are considering moving to Wyoming I applaud you. I'm sure you will find it quieter and more laid back and land that goes on forever. If I had a chance to move there I would. Good luck I hope it proves a wise move for ya.

Rentals are near impossible to find in the paper or in any other listing. however, there are houses available. But they turn fast. I've seen For Sale signs go up in the morning and come down after lunch. So you can imagine how fast houses, rentals, move.

You're already used to cold. But your not quite used to this cold. It's a little different but it won't take you long to aclamate.

The schools here are some of the best in the Nation. We have excellent educators here and great schools for them to teach in.

Have you been to Sheridan before? If so, what time of year and what did you like about Sheridan?

Can't just look at a thermometer and expect the same thing as elsewhere.

Have to factor in the Humidity, the wind and everything else.

Not saying you're not used to it, it's just different.

If I'm right the humidity where I live makes the cold colder but no or less humidity makes cold just cold. Is that right?

Yeah. Cold is cold. The problem is that when the humidity is low like it gets here often, down in the teens, the cold doesn't feel as cold to you when you are outside. As such, you can get into trouble in short order. When it doesn't feel cold, you tend to stay out longer or continue doing what your doing.

I've lived several places in the US and Wyoming was always a little different getting used to. Don't get me wrong, I love it here. it was just different on things I had to pay attention to.

So is Sheridan a nice place to live? Are the Californians invading? That's what's happening in Idaho and Montana, I figured Wyoming was next.

Yeah, people from California have been coming in. But so far, for the most part, they've had a pretty good attitude.

Most come here because Sheridan is what they want. And most don't bring their "Well we did it different back in Cali". they're not here to Fix us.

However there is some with attitudes. You'll find that anywhere.

I can't really blame them for wanting to come here. It's beautiful, open, and when they sell their house in Cal, they can retire here ad be set for life. But what they don't realize is that by bringing that kind of money into this area, they're squeezing out the very reason they want to live here. The old country folks that give this place charm, can't afford to stay.

Check the local paper Classified Ads and the local realtors ERA Carroll Realty Co., Inc. , Sheridan Wyoming Real Estate Including Homes, Ranches, Land and Commercial.

Sometimes calling a real estate office and talking to a live person will reveal rentals that aren't listed on-line. Good Luck.
