...prolonged period of snow expected in the snowy and sierra
madre ranges and adjacent foothills through midweek...

.a favorable moist westerly upslope flow will plow into the snowy
and sierra madre ranges beginning in earnest tonight and
continuing at least through the day on tuesday. By the time mid-
week arrives the potential exists for new snowfall in excess of 1
to 2 feet...with the highest amounts along west facing slopes.
Lower elevations adjoining the snowy and sierra madre ranges could
see snow accumulations of 6 to 10 inches as well with considerable
blowing and drifting snow. Snow will combine with strong winds to
produce significant blowing snow late tonight through monday
night. Snow is expected to dissipate on wednesday.
