I ask because I live in Pinedale now, have never been to Idaho Falls, and will be driving there early in the morning to catch a plane home to PA for Christmas.

I know it's 3-ish hours away, and I've been told the drive is rough, going through Hoback Junction, and over the mountains...any tips or advice?

You should go south to Alpine and along the lake. You should allow 4 hours, though if the roads are good it will be 3 to 31/2 hours.

If you go through Jackson, you have "the Pass'" and Piney pass as well.

The road is good weather is fine. The run along the Hoback is a little curvy, but nothing too tough. Watch the weather and watch the WYDOT road report on the internet.

If WYDOT keeps the road open, you will make it. It may take longer than 3 hours, but it has never taken me more than 4.5 hours to travel from IF to Pinedale. Just go as slow as the roads dictate.

I have spent most of the last 7 years traveling to and through Pinedale for work and youth hockey in every imaginable condition of weather and roads.
