I have been researching for EMT Jobs in Wyoming. From what I am finding is that they are ran by the Fire Companies and Hospitals. Not many openings are present on the Wyomingatwork site. I am looking to move to Cheyenne, or Laramie as my "starting out" city in Wyoming. I will be moving from the East coast. Cost of living is very much the same as in my home town. EMT's, according to the cost of living, make the same a EMT's in my home town. My question is, does anyone have more information on the carreer field, in those cities. I am not dead set on a town at this point, just want to get away from the East coast. If anyone knows more on EMT Jobs, would you also know of places that have volunteer EMS and possible private companies that are highering or will be in the near future. I plan on moving the beginning of February or March. I have already started the paperwork to take the state health test. As my National registery and my current state certification is not valid in Wyoming.

Thank you in advance.

Howdy:

Laramie, Cheyenne and Sheridan have both Fire Department and private ambulance service EMTs, but I am only familiar with the east side of the state. I'm sure many other towns in central and western Wyoming do as well. Do you want to be a firefighter/EMT; and ER EMT or a private service EMT?

What sort of EMT are you? Are you trained in the 911 environment? Are you an ER based EMT? Are you an interfacility transport/high risk transport EMT? Are you certified as a wilderness EMT, an EMT-Tactical (SWAT medic), a flight medic (EMT-AET), an NICU/MICU EMT or some other type of specialist EMT? Each of these specializations would suggest different locations.

More importantly, what sort of medicine do you WANT to practice?

All of these are the sorts of questions you have to answer before you decide WHERE you are going to apply. Decide what you want to do - then figure out where your skills and desires match the needs of the communities you are evaluating.

Send me a PM and we can talk further...
