There's often a great difference between reputation and reality. Read our local paper to get a better idea. I've linked to the Fire, Sheriff, and Police news. The Cody police calls are after the others. I suggest that you read other parts of the paper as well to get the true feel of Cody.

If I visit someone in any Cody trailer park I leave my keys in the ignition without worry. I've lived in the Cody area for over five years and have yet to hear or read about a genuine old fashioned honest-to-goodness brawl with chairs being broken over heads, ears being bitten off, etc.

I would have to argue that Cody is MORE family friendly than Powell. I think they are both great for families. Cody does have a bit more to do as it is a little bigger and because of the "touristy" part, it has a few more family amenities. Tourists only affect Cody for about 3 months of the year and that doesn't at all affect most family activities of locals. Kids are still involved in everything as in other towns. The only affect I see is that things like the miniature golf course, the downtown park, Buffalo Bill Historic Center, etc are all busier with tourists as well as are eating an shopping establishments. There is still plenty to do for locals. I am not at all dissing Powell. It is an awesome community as well. I just don't want people to be misinformed about Cody. Thank you.

Powell's more "bedroom" of gateway of more to do at Cody. Yes Powell's nice liitle place, for what it is, 1/2 size, sleepier if you will, it's proximity to alot more/bigger is what makes me happy.

From what i've learned on seen of Cody, it's great! Lotsa'family oriented things there.

I made a typo when typing this. Elkhunter caught it and fixed it for me. However, when it got fixed, the towns were put in backwards! What I meant to say is "I would have to argue that Powell is MORE family friendly than Cody", not the other way around. I was referring to a poster who said that Powell was more family friendly and I was disagreeing, saying that both towns are great for families! Thanks!
