I just now sent off the following message to my Irish friends in Co. Cork, which I now repeat to my Wyoming friends:

"Just home from a trip to the grocery. Stopped by the corner pub for a shot of Jameson’s, which I hoisted and toasted, for the entire pub to hear - to the lads & lasses from County Cork. Slanté."

"Slanté", pronounced Slahn-cha, is Irish Gaelic for "cheers".

Your aye,
Wm Jas

WE didn't have corned beef... not my hubby's favourite (and he's part Irish!) ...but we did go to Mickey-D's for a Shamrock Shake

I'm like him. You can keep the corned beef.

I had a great big Elk backstrap steak, sizzled on the grill, with a huge baked potato with about a quarter stick of butter and chopped onions with some sour cream, and some veggies that I steamed.

Then I did the man thing, and kicked up the foot rest on my Lazy Boy and snored for about 40 minutes.

That sounds like a much better St. Paddy's Day meal than corned beef and cabbage. I honestly don't see why that is so popular and I have some Irish ancestry. Maybe I don't have enough and that's why I don't like it that much.

I love corned beef hash, both from a can or homemade. My hubby does like reubens...but he likes sauerkraut. Do you make your own sauerkraut Jody?
