I will be staying in Sheridan on the 29th, and am looking for a good place for breakfast in Sheridan or along 14 somewhere east of Ralston. Any good cafes or restaurants? Would try Silver Spur, but HATE smoke. I hear it's a smoker's haven, so looking elsewhere... Thanks for any good ideas.

When you head 15 miles North of Sheridan on I-90, you exit at HWY 14, or Ranchester exit to head West. In the town of Ranchester, about half way through town on the North side of the road, is a little cafe that is in a strip mall looking place. They serve an outstanding breakfast. It's a little mom & pop place called the Sunset Cafe. There is a pretty healthy morning coffee group, but there is ample seating.

There are many breakfast restaurants in Sheridan. Some are franchises but for a 1 time deal I would avoid them. There are a couple of independent diner style places. I see diners as either greasy spoon or family style. I love them both.

In Sheridan the greasy spoon is the Silver Spur. Smoking allowed. Keeps out the yuppies. Real food. Don’t ask for vegetarian. Don’t complain about the smoke.

The family style is the Palace on Main Street. Jane will give you the best no frills breakfast in Sheridan.

There is a list of smoke free restaurants on the Wyoming Dept of Health website. http://www.health.wyo.gov/phsd/preve...reeDining.html if that helps. I have asthma so I agree that smoking where one eats isn't always enjoyable. (and I'm not a yuppie )
