Alright, I know this sounds ignorant, but I'll be graduating soon and I was thinking of moving to Wyoming to open up a practice somewhere (TBA). What do you guys think? Assuming I am a good dentist, have good social skills, etc... would you be comfortable with the new guy in town?

Truly good dentists that actually listen to their patients and are willing to work with them are hard to find. I'm betting, assuming you turn out to be one of the good ones (and thst doesn't just mean dental skills), that you'd have no problems getting patients especially if you settle and practice somewhere outside of the main towns of Casper, Laramie and Cheyenne.

I don't live in your area but I would go to a dentist no matter his race or ethnicity and I really don't care what your religion or sexual preferance is either. I want you to be a skilled dentist since I am there to have a dental procedure done and I am not there to discover your life story from conception on, your religious belief or non belief, nor am I there to get a date.

I don't think very many people in WY would care about ethnicity/background. If you're good at what you do, are Honest (and don't make people feel like you're just in it for the money ~ that's the single thing that stands out with all the BAD dentists I've run into), you shouldn't have any issues. Well, past the simple fact that people aren't real happy with change/new, so getting established will take a lot of effort.

As the last dentist that I had was one step above Caligula, than yes I would give you my business until you hurt me. Than you would not have my business. I am a real baby when it comes to dentistry (I can take any pain except mouth pain)

I became very good friends with a female dentist in Gillette by the name of Annie Ngo. She was not only the best dentist I have ever gone to, but one of the kindest people, period. She and her husband both practiced in Gillette for a couple of years then moved back to open their own practice in Sacramento, where their parents are. People in Gillette had no problems with going to a dentist who was Asian....and female at that!

I think the only problem that you will have with Wyoming is figuring out where you would like to live.

Not to many years ago, I did a project in Texas and I needed a Dentist while there. Not knowing anybody or having a regular dentist there, I grabbed the yellow pages. I found a dentist that was close to where I was and called and got an appointment for 7pm. Yes, 7 PM. There were two dentists (brothers) that set up shop and one worked 8-4 and the other worked from 4-midnight. They worked that for two weeks and then switched. That way they caught almost ALL of the emergent work for the area, but could schedule normal work for any hour that fit the patients schedule. As you can imagine, they had a thriving business. Certainly worked out great for me.

Good luck on where ever you choose to live, I think you'll do fine.
