Sounds like the OP has the wherewithal to do the MT Corp if necessary for vehicles. Should be no problem, and that is how folks been handling income / businesses via NEV corps for decades.

Since OR is a no Sales Tax state and WA a HIGH sales tax state, many border Dwellers / transplants try the 'cross state vehicle thing'.. OR has 2 yr plates for $30...

WA State troopers have Photo License PLate scanners, so they sit at the on-ramp to OR in the AM and scan plates. That day the info is filtered for ID, and sent to WA utilities. If registered owner has WA Utilities and an OR registered car (non business), they get one warning (By mail), then a $1000+ ticket. There is also a 'Bounty' for reporting your WA neighbors who 'might' be driving with OR plates. (or buying refrigerators, TV's. in OR..)
Not. Oregon's plates are NOT cheap. If the car is not several years old, you have to buy 4 year plates, meaning your initial license and registration is over 300 dollars.

I just looked up SD's license plates... they're not bad, though the tax on a brand new vehicle is a little stiff, it's NOWHERE NEAR AS BAD as many states.

However, since establishing a residency is easy (and easy enough to maintain) during our likely somewhat nomadic existence, that's probably what we'll do. It's also a RN license compact state, meaning there's like 17 states it's valid for, and my wife would like that.

LOL ... if you think that OR's plates are "NOT cheap" at over $300 for 4 years on newer vehicles ...

you'll have serious sticker shock with Wyoming ownership tax and license fees.

Even my mid-1990's vehicles still get annual fees into the low $100's range per year/vehicle. Exotics like old pick-up trucks, or Subaru OBW's which have dropped to the bottom of the rate charts with age.

I'm aware of Wyoming's license fees. If I do move to Wyoming, one of the things I'll be sure to not do is drive newer vehicles.
