Here's a few pics from Wyoming..

NWS Riverton Writes....

"What happened to Summer? Minor snow accumulation on Togwotee Pass (WYDOT) this morning."

I've lived here for twelve years. I've seen snow in late June as well as late August several times. Every county in Wyoming has recorded snow in every month of the year. But no snow for me this time. It was 55 yesterday and only went down to 48 last night, typical summer night. The predicted high today is 61 and 79 by Friday.

I'm ready for the boreal winds of winter.

That's interesting if true. I can check specific stations but we all know that's just certain locations and not entire county or higher elevations.

However I'm looking at the elevation map for WY and I see counties that are just 3000-6000 only so I highly doubt snow fell in those counties in July or August. Riverton at 6500 feet never got snow in July or August so it's hard to believe every county did..

Then again... Mt Washington, NH at 6200 feet got snow 6 times since 1948 in July, so maybe every county did get snow and just wasn't at a station that recorded it... but it's not the normal.

I have no reason to lie.

In Colorado, the Denver airport recorded snow in July, 1974. I was in South Park, a high mountain valley about 75 miles SW and encountered several inches if snowy slush on the highway. Therre was some snow on the ground.

In 2009 most of Wyoming experienced temperaturs near zero in early October.

There's a 10,000' peak just a few miles from my home. Clouds obscure the summit as I write but I'd wager that the summit has or will receive snow.

Just to correct this.. Denver's earliest snowfall is September 3, 1961, no snow fell in July or August.
Denvers Winter/Cold Season Statistics

In July 1974 Denver was in the 80s & 90s in the day and 50s & 60s at night.

Trust me, I'm a weather geek whos active in the weather forum, No snow fell in July or August in the U.S except for higher elevations (above 6000 feet) (more common above 10,000 feet) The pattern has to favor it. If there is record of July/August snow lower than 6000 feet in those months it must of been some extreme event.

Twice a day NWS sends weather balloons up.
Here's Riverton, WY data from this morning's balloon launch. See where the freezing temps are? 11,000 feet+ You can check other dates here. http://weather.uwyo.edu/upperair/sounding.html
