I'm stumped; VRBO has no houses or condos/ apartments for rent in Lander, and can't find anything else online anywhere. Lander is such a great little town that I'm surprised. Can anyone recommend a rental service or a source for rental homes?

Try contacting the local real estate companies directly, they are the ones who manage most of the rental market properties in Lander and know what is available.

FWIW ... the tight rental market in Lander and the reasonably close towns all the way up to Riverton has been a topic for years on C-D. Doesn't look like the situation has improved any since at least 2007.

Try the following:

Landertalk

The Ranger, Riverton and Lander, Wyoming Daily Newspaper | Classifieds

As Sunsprit noted, rentals are few and far between, and that's evident looking through these two sources. When something decent does come up, you better be ready to jump on it, cause it won't last long. I myself will be going to work in Lander this August, and will be trying to find a 1 or 2 bedroom apartment. The prices I've seen so far have been quite ridiculous. The last one I saw was a 1 bedroom apartment for $750 per month. Yikes! Wish me luck too...

When you say "VRBO" ... are you wanting a vacation rental of sorts? There are cabins to rent (Louis Lake, is one that comes to mind) as well as bed and breakfast type spots. Or are you meaning long term rentals...where there you might have more of a challenge.
