The days are longer and warmer. Snow is deep. Deer, elk and moose are dropping their antlers.
But as much as you want to grab your gear and head out to look for sheds or ski and snowboard on perfect backcountry snow, stop for a minute. Take a look at where you’re going, and make sure it’s not in one of Wyoming’s many closed winter ranges.
The Wyoming Game and Fish Department, U.S. Forest Service and National Park Service have closed swaths of Wyoming’s mountains and plains to winter travel. Antler and shed hunting is prohibited on all public lands west of the Continental Divide outside of the Great Divide Basin until May 1. The effort is meant to protect wintering wildlife, Game and Fish officials say, and ignoring the regulations can have dire consequences.

Jody. How does Fish and game put out the word, which winter range is closed to the public?
Can you pick up maps at the Fish and game office, or this there a list that it come from the news paper?
I didn't read in the write up, any information on how the information got distributed to the public?

Good information Jody thanks for the post.
