So, I'm at the mercy of Uncle Sam on where I live, and he said its time to move. I'm being relocated to Nevada (something or another about the needs of the Air Force), which means no more quick trips back home to Wyoming. This makes me sad.

I'm trying to combat this by putting some photos up in my house of "back home". My latest and greatest idea is that I'm going to print a photo of the most 'prominent' nature feature from each county. I've lived around the state all of my life (Cheyenne, Laramie, Rock Springs, and Casper), but certainly not in each county. Some places are obvious, some places aren't. I have plenty of ideas for about half to two-thirds of the state, but I'm curious what y'all come up with, because some of your ideas may actually be more photogenic than what I've come up with so far.

For example: Crook County / Devil's Tower

Lemmie know what you're thinking. Bonus points if you know of a reasonably high resolution photo I can legally reproduce for this project.

Albany County -- Lake Marie and/or Medicine Bow Peak
Carbon County -- Elk Mountain
Fremont County -- Petroglyphs at Dinwoody or Torrey Lake
Hot Springs County -- Wind River Canyon or Paul Bunyan's Marbles
Big Horn County -- Shell Canyon or Big Horn Canyon

Just a few of the more iconic places I can think of off the top of my head.

I almost posted that last night, but I was tired from the drive there and back yesterday.

Campbell County's (Gillette) photo should probably be an open pit coal mine. The county used to be more associated with its buttes and antelope, but now it's definitely the coal mining. (Public coal mine tours are offered via the Visitors Bureau June through August only.)
