Monday, August 21st, 2017 is the day and if you have't heard by now... the path crosses the middle of Wyoming and locations along the center-line of the path will experience about 2-1/2 minutes of totality. Here is the EclipseWise "Wyoming" page with information on path and times.

For me it's a toss-up between a prairie view (unlimited possibilities), a reservoir view (Glendo, or Boysen), a mountain view (Casper Mountain), a backyard view (my house), or a bar view (undoubtedly, every watering hole along the path will have some kind of event).

Wyoming... What are your viewing plans?

I'll see what I can see from my back yard in Star Valley. I'm going to avoid the masses of people heading up to Jackson. My hubby works in Jackson and he's considering buying a cot for the office to sleep on overnight, since he's concerned about the traffic being so bad he won't be able to come home. We'll see what happens.

Somewhere around Casper, I think. Worried about traffic, though.

Somewhere near the center and then drive where the weather is likely to be the best. There is time for a nice breakfast and to drive for a few hours ...

If there is a good view to the West would be best. Taking pictures of the blocked-out sun is stupid. You can see those pictures all day long on the web. Pictures of the shadow speeding toward you at 1,500 mph and everything going black would be cool.

I have seen the shadow rings moving across the Gulf of Maine from Nova Scotia during an eclipse and it is really spectacular. We rigged a "projector" from a small telescope and a camera lens to project a solar image on a screen. That was much safer for the kids.
