These vile things, accidentally imported into PA on a Chinese shipping pallet several years ago, are overrunning OH. They swarm all over the southwest side of buildings and really smell terrible if you crush them.

So far, it looks like they haven't made it to WY. Just one more reason for me to relocate. :-)

Believe it or not, I actually like skunks.

When I was a kid, I babysat for a family that had a pet skunk named Guinevere. She was old and grumpy and mostly used to hide in the house. The parents told me not to bother her, and she wouldn't bother me. I think she had been descented. Probably. I have no idea how they came to have a skunk as a pet in suburban PA.

Many years later, I remember one of the few times I ever went camping. I was lying in our tent with the sides up so only the screen separated me from the outside. It was very early in the morning when I rolled over in my sleeping bag, and my face was literally 6 inches away from a big skunk who was walking by on the other side of the screen. I lay quietly and got a really cool close-up look.

I think they're beautiful animals. I also had a pet ferret for quite a few years a long time ago, so maybe I just like varmints? :-)

Stink bugs, on the other hand, not so much.

I moved to Illinois from Virginia. When I was in Virginia, the stink bugs were terrible. Most folks here in Illinois don't even know what they are . . . yet.

Sometimes it ain't skunks just skunk weed.
Smells like a skunk but you'd have to be an Italian Rastafarian to know these things.

Best regards,

Bob Marliano

Darn, and y'know I happened across a picture of Bob's zydeco-painted car somewhere a few yrs back...it was'nt an Italian model...certainly not a Ferrari, Lambo or Masserati....he was'nt nearly that egotistical, God bless his soul...but somehow if he was alive today, I can envision him driving a similarly painted rag-top Fiat (of the newer variety) or maybe a faux-wood sided Cooper/Mini ?

They're making their way to every state.

We first saw them here in 2012. The young cashier at the garden shop said she hopes they go away. Lol they won't. We have relatives in PA, where they first made their appearance about 20 years ago. It's like a plague there now. Oh goodie.

They have no natural enemies. Except me. And I'm on it.
