we moved a whole ranch from Idaho line to NE corner of Wyoming ,500 miles . Semi wanted $4/mile , got one that moved my big equipment at $2.35/mile, my sheep the same price , couple loads of other stuff at $2.00. my cows on a back haul a few semis charged me $3.85/mile . I bought a 16 foot cargo trailer that made about 4 trips , sold it this year for $200 less then I paid for it. We also did about 10 trips with our 20 foot aluminum stock trailer which was power washed out , it hauled house hold and a lot of ranch items, and a load of ewes. year and a half and we still unpacking some stuff.

Some of us actually like our stuff! Some "stuff" is irreplaceable, and help make us who we are--family heirlooms, collectibles, art, and so forth. If we downsize, that's not the stuff we get rid of...

Moving is very expensive. No "can be" about it. You can't move to an apartment 20 feet away for less than about $1k. Moving to another state is horrendously expensive unless you happen to own equipment that can transport everything and even that will only save you so much.

I agree. I hate when people say get rid of everything.

I have started the down sizing and figuring on what to toss and what to keep and it won't fill the 10' UHaul truck. I'm happy to say that I've managed to save $1000.00 in 4 months. I haven't been on here in quite some time as I made plans and they are in place. The biggest thing is saving money and having enough for the move.

I concur with you 100%. That's great. It's not what you make but how much you can save.

Yes, as soon as the apartment complex has an open unit. My savings are doing well I have $1,250.00 in moving funds. There are 15 units in the apartment complex and it takes a while before one is available.
