We moved to Lander with one uhaul pull behind for our family of six. Needless to say we left a lot of things behind intending to replenish our supplies when we reached Wyoming. This has been CRAZY IMPOSSIBLE!! There are only a handful of thrift/consignment/used furniture stores in the Lander/Riverton area and the prices are unbelievable. I am not looking for anything fancy but when a single cruddy used chair goes for $60 I stop shopping.

Does anyone know of any reasonable places to find used furniture? I've tried Craigslist already to no avail. I used to be able to furnish my house on a "dime".

As spring gets here, the yard sales start. Watch for them.

I donated lots of stuff to the thrift store in Rawlins last summer. I don't know what they have left. It is going to be a couple of months before I get back there to get rid of the rest of the stuff.

People keep talking about there being a lot of mobile families in Wyoming maybe you will luck out and find someone leaving. Then again - that may be why you are having trouble finding used furniture. My husband furnished his house from the local thrift store - when I move there his stuff goes to make room for mine!!

I've seen some garage sales advertised in the paper here. I imagine as the warmer weather keeps coming, there will be more of that going on. Check your local paper.

Don't forget about the college students...they should be packing up in a matter of weeks. A lot of times you can find furniture just sitting on the curbs; lots of ads in the paper.

I know what you mean about the thrift stores being overpriced in Lander......

i'm not sure if this is still done but when I lived there every morning the local AM radio station had this 'program' (for lack of a better term) where people could advertise something they had for sale or wanted to buy, ect.
