Definitely check crime rates in towns you’re considering. Rawlings, for example, has insane sexual predator populations and the crime otherwise is very high. Lots of immigrant and transient workers.
Where we will be, we’re told the roads close for a month or two so expect to be either plowing snow or staying home working on jigsaw puzzles. . Far out will mean the roads are going to be last to get cleared.
Agree with you that this country has lost its mind and folks are leaving these coyotes for some peace and security.
Thank you for your work as a LEO. A noble career, regardless of what people say these days.
Lots of immigrant workers here at Home Depot.

So are you closer to Laramie (pop. 32,000+) than Wheatland?

Fewer people than any other state. But, that's all about to change.

Maybe temporarily. I strongly suspect the isolation and climate could make some of our newest residents temporary.

Because so many more people are starting to work remotely. Weather isn't as big of an issue for them.

There you have it. Somewhere between 10 miles and 30 miles out, you'll find Copper Leaf subdivision.

It's about 20 mins (or so) drive from Cody. We only ever pay attention to the place in the winter because huge herds of elk like to graze there, and we go out that way on Sundays when the tourists are gone and the park is closed to watch the animals that have come down out of the mountains (elk, big horn sheep, bison).

As soon as I heard NPR had an affiliate broadcasting left-wing liberal-lunacy from the Buffalo Bill Cody 'Hysterical' Museum, I knew we had officially lost Wyoming to the 'winds of change'.

But that is not to say things cannot (ever) go back, to the way they were...

Well, duh....I'd have thought you'd figured it out already
They are currently fleeing the flames - but the good news is after a Wyoming winter, they'll be happy to return. Have no use for anyone who won't defend themselves, their family or homestead.
