I tried do a google search and couldn't find anything that looked like this. It's not poisonous.

Bull snake it is then. They seem to be able to squeeze between very small cracks, like under doors and such.

That is quite a small bull snake. They can exceed 6' as adults, and can flatten their heads to look like a rattlesnake. They coil and hiss quite audibly.

We had a big bull snake who liked to come into the feed room and wrap itself around burlap bags of feed, creating a corrugated pattern of impressions along outside of bag. You wanted to look real carefully before reaching in the bag. They are effective rodent hunters. But seems to be a myth that they kill rattlesnakes.
