PINE HAVEN FIRE NEWS RELEASE
Pine Haven Fire at 103 Acres June 17, 2021
Pine Haven, WY (June 17, 2021) The Pine Haven Fire, on the edge of the Pine Haven, Wyoming Town limits, is now 103 acres. The cause of the fire is still under investigation and is approximately 85% contained.
A line is built completely around the fire. Mop up operations have started. There is unburned fuel inside the containment line that will continue to burn and smolder. Smoke will continue to be visible today. The weather is expected to be mostly sunny with a high in the upper 80’s and south wind shifting to the northwest at 10-15 mph.
The priority of the firefighting effort continues to be firefighter and public safety. Incident Commander Dick Terry also listed minimization of public loss and protection of private property as priorities of the multi-agency response. One residence, one outbuilding and two campers were lost to the fire yesterday. There are no reported injuries from firefighters or the public.
Evacuation orders for residences in the northwest section of Pine Haven have been lifted. Highway 113 into Pine Haven at the intersection of Old Sundance has been opened to the public. Wind Creek Campground at Keyhole State Park remains closed until further notice.
The multi-agency effort has reduced fire fighters from 85 firefighters to 53 firefighters on scene. There are 15 county fire engines, there are 2 privately owned blades, 1 county blades, 1 dozer,1 skid steer with grapple 1 20-person hand crew, 2 units from the Bureau of Land Management, 1 unit from Wyoming State Forestry, 1 helicopter, and 1 4 person Heli tack crew.
Cooperators managing the fire include Crook County Volunteer Fire Moorcroft Volunteer Fire, Pine Haven Volunteer Fire, Carlile Volunteer Fire, Sundance Volunteer Fire, Aladdin Volunteer Fire, Hulett Volunteer Fire, Beulah Volunteer Fire, Oshoto Volunteer Fire, Wyoming State Forestry, Crook County Sheriff’s Office, Crook County Emergency Management, Wyoming Highway Patrol, Bureau of Land Management, Bureau of Reclamation, and the United States Forest Service.

10-11 miles SE of our SE corner. It was on other side of Key Hole reservoir

Hate that it happens, but glad it’s not you. Lots of smoke the other day here from a 9000 acre fire in Utah, or at least that’s what my wife said. Fire season way too early this year. Drought has impacted game and fish hay price. $185 this year.
