I've heard of these types of homes. But here in Sheridan, 15,804 people, I don't think we have any. At least, none that I'm aware of. I know of some groups that work together, but no homes.

Casper and Cheyenne are 60,000+ people so they may have enough to form groups and have the need for homes.

You may want to check with Big Horn Enterprises, which I'm familiar with in Thermopolis and I know are in other Big Horn Basin area towns (Worland, Powell) as well. These are smaller towns but I know there are group homes there. Check them out at bighornenterprises.com.

Big Horn Enterprises I BELIEVE is based in Cody. There is a large org. in Cheyenne called 'Magic City' that has disabled (physically & mentally) in homes with house parents. And some are pretty nice places! They do a lot with the clients - my youngest son lives in one of the houses & loves it.

Sheridan does have some group homes. RENEW had some around town and I think there may be one or two private ones also. I do think that Renew is often looking for someone to work in their homes. They also have offices in Gillette and Newcastle so you might want to check them out

NOWCAP in Casper is that type of facility, and I believe there is at least one other here, but I'm not sure of the name.

Thanks. I knew of none but after I posted that I got to thinking that there has to be something around Sheridan. I do know the VA has some, what they call "Long Term Care".

Just never heard of anything personally. Thanks again for chiming in.

The long term care is for vets & are mostly older & often basically homeless (my step-father-in-law was in there for awhile & very frankly did not receive very good care. he was eventually transferred by his wife across the mountains to Basin, to Wyo Retirement Ctr.

Are you looking for a place to work or do you have a young adult who needs placement? Be cautious of places of course (and I know you know this...) who always seem to need employees. Magic City has been really great in Cheyenne & I was REALLY uncomfortable with the whole placement "thing" but by the time Jas was 21 it was time for him to do like his older bros & sis did - go on his own & live his own life & he loves it. A lot of activities & many houses throughout town. And they help them prepare for the Spec. Olympics

Default Looking for work in group homes

I am thinking of moving to wyoming and that is what I do for a living work with the mentally handicapped. My son is autistic but lives with me he is vry high functioning. Someday he may want to branch out but he definitely would need staff to assist him in giving verbal prompts. These are not nursing homes but more like assisted living. Thanks everyone for replies.
