Alright, I'm heading to heavy equipment school in Casper in 2 weeks. Yeah Baby! Finally I'm on my way. It bites that I have to leave my wife and kids for a while (find a job, get set up, etc...) a guys gotta do something. After losing my job as an electrician at christmas (perfect), and us moving in with my mother in law I'm absolutely ready to go. But this is something I've been working on for over a year and am really excited. I try to keep an open mind and stay positive, so I'm just wondering what to expect in Casper. I'm not concerned with the weather as I live in Minnesota, just more curious about the people, culture, etc... Most of my knowledge of Wyoming is through this forum and all of the posters here have helped me tremendously and I hope that the rest of the people in Wyoming are just like y'all! Honest, helpful, and real (which I suspect most are). Thanks everyone!

Casper is a good place, a lot windy, but a nice town with good people. Lot of Minnesotans out here (my family is from Hastings and St Paul, circa 34 years ago) so you'll find the same kinds of sensibilities, just minus the accent. Every time I leave and come back, it feels like I'm going back in time a decade or two as far as how people treat each other.

Not that I live in Casper, but I'm there about every other week for work or as a mini-vacation with my wife.
