Perhaps I should have started a new thread, since this one's over 6 months since anyone has posted on it.

But just a feeler out there.. I'm looking for English/Language arts positions in Wyoming. Actually, this year of subbing (well half year so far) has been a good experience for me, and I would even enjoy teaching 5-6th graders as well as high school English. (now that I've subbed for 5th and 6th grade language arts, I can say that I would enjoy it )

So, forum readers, if you hear of any possible retiring teachers/openings in your districts, please let me know. I watch on the sites for Wyoming teaching positions and Wyoming jobs already, but sometimes there are places I could send a letter of interest out if there is a possible job opening coming up. Only real criteria is that I would need to be in a town (or close enough to a larger town/city) of about 6000 or more, for my husband to have enough potential clientele for his home based computer repair business.

Thanks

Froggie

Keep at it Froggie! You are doing what you need to do and what you can do. Keep networking, doing what you can. Can you coach anything by any chance? I came from an athletic background and could coach a wide variety of sports which helped make me a more marketable. If you don't, then just volunteer to do any extra curricular that you are capable of doing. Schools need this. When we interview prospective teachers, if there are 2 or 3 quality candidates, being able to supervise/manage a club or extracurricular of some sort, or the willingness to learn, can set one candidate apart from another.

Keep at it!

Thanks Sons! I actually can't coach athletics. I had to get out of nursing due to a chronic bad back, so I'm limited on physical activities. I can, however, coach speech, debate, and would love to work with theatre, school newspaper, or yearbook. Does anyone know if Wyoming has a Knowledge Bowl or Academic Bowl (trivia teams) system? I would be willing to this as well. I'm also interested in FCCLA (Family, Career and Community Leaders of America). I know there is a school placement out there for me somewhere. Just need to put it in God's hands! Thanks for the advice/support!

Sorry to revive an old post.. but wanted to say thanks to everyone on this forum for the support and suggestions about finding a teaching job in Wyoming. Sadly --at least for now-- it's not meant to be. I just accepted a full time position near my home here in Minnesota. I'll keep peeking in on the board from time to time, as I would love to move to Wyoming sometime down the road, but I guess that "dream" has to be put on hold for now. Wish me luck! I'm going to teach 7th and 8th grade English on the local Reservation. Quite excited, actually!
