Got a HUGE laugh from the 2012 end of the world thing. Y2K all over again? Who knows? Who cares? If it happens, we're all screwed anyway, to a point. Anyway, I had to laugh. Better get settled in, just in case

Cheyenne does indeed have a pretty good feel to it. Coming from Mass, it's DEFINATELY going to be different. As long as you're fair minded, and judge folks by their actions and deeds, as you would like to be, you'll be fine. We're quite a bit more laid back than the East or West coast tends to be, and more welcoming, as long as you don't complain about the weather. Yeah, it's nasty sometimes, but that's the way it goes.

Finding a reasonably priced, nice home on 5 acres is a snap in Cheyenne. We have a place on 5.25 in the County, and are 10 minutes from the Wal-Mart in Cheyenne (you mentioned it). This may come as real shock to you, but even in the "worst traffic" we can drive from out of town in the County, "all the way" across town in 20 minutes. It's quite the commute . As mentioned before, commuting in I-25 OR I-80 between Cheyenne and anywhere is hazardous in the winter. I have to travel because of my job, and it's not always easy, pleasant, or safe.

One note though relative to another poster's comments. I work with several folks that work in Wyoming and live in Colorado, and vice versa (I travel in my job). Wyoming doesn't have a State Income Tax and Colorado does. Generally speaking, things like license plates "tend" to be very similar, but property taxes are lower in Wyoming. If you work in Colorado and live in Wyoming, you'll pay Colorado Income Tax, because you EARNED your money in Colorado. If you live in Colorado and work in Wyoming, you'll pay through the nose in CO property tax, and I believe pay CO Income Tax because you're a resident there, even though you earned your money in Wyoming. Maybe it's a lower rate, but you still pay it I'm fairly certain. There are several of the guys who moved here and didn't find that out until AFTER the fact. While we think taxes are high in Colorado, coming from Mass, you may not.
