We're going to visit Yellowstone on our way to visit family this summer. We'll only have one night to spend on the way down. I might be able to swing back through on the way back but that's up in the air. I know space is at a premium in the park and it's probably best to book a room now.

Prices are similar for a room with 2 double beds. Is there a major difference in the two locations? For such a short visit, we're probably going to just have to hit the high points (Artist's Point and Old Faithful) before we head out the east entrance. Any thoughts?

Canyon is one of my least favorite housing locations in the Park. Nothing to reccomend it other than it is near the falls.

Lake Yellowstone Hotel is a huge classic. Make sure you get a room in the hotel, not the cabins. It is spectacular, and the rooms have had some type of remodel a number of years back.

Nothing is 4 star, but that is Yellowstone, and the Lake Hotel is one of my favorite.

Last time in there, we spent a night at Mammoth, tho it would have been cheaper staying in Gardiner.
