Need help making a decision to move to Ft. Mill from GA.
Is the URS office good to work in, and what is the rental housing like?

Is it worth the hassle to drive back & forth for a job.
Would like to hear from URS employees please.

Are the people nice, is it a "pressure cooker" How are the office politics
etc.

Is it true that if you live in NC & work in SC you have to pay tax in both?
Thanks

Check craigslist for rentals..best place or call a local agent.

I have worked for two of their major competitores. From what I've found it's all about the project schedule/deadlines. Any place can be a "pressure cooker"..it just varies on the project management.

I live in SC, but work in NC. I pay taxes in NC only.

The URS office is right outside of Charlotte in a new office. The place is supposed to be pretty nice but was built about 2 years ago when they expected to get contracts to build GE Nuclear Plants. Those contracts never came. They had to do other projects not related to power to keep people employed and many folks have sat around without much work. They hope to get a contract to build a Toshiba Nuclear Plant, but that is not finilized. I know people who are being hired for that--I would not take a job there until they have that contract signed.

There is plenty of rental housing around.

Back and forth from where? GA? For me, the answer would be no.

I work at URS's direct competition, Shaw. From what I can tell, URS treats their people better, but than the grass is always greener on the otherside. We have a lot more work now, so the comparision probably isn't fair. Its corporate America, its is similar everywhere.

I have the opposite cirumstance. I end up paying NC taxes and no SC taxes as SC gives me a credit for the NC taxes I pay. You have to file in both states. You overall tax burden will not change, just the proportion of who you pay it to.

What do you do? We have jobs in Jenkinsville, SC. 1 hr closer to GA.
