I was sure the papers said that DHEC would decide by March (if not sooner), but I haven't seen any news about it lately.

Anyone know when we will find out who will get the Fort Mill Hospital?

No telling ... all three hospitals are still doing their PR way past the deadline DHEC set for cards, letters and opinions from the public. DHEC did say March (if not sooner.)

No word. But, it seems like a long-shot for anything other than Piedmont. For some reason, they seem to have an unfair advantage. I'm still hoping CMC wins.

I also really want CMC, but I have a bad feeling that Piedmont is going to get it regardless of what the community wants.

Here's a list of all the employees in the Health Licensing Dept of DHEC. Maybe we should call and find out?

It is my understanding that the proposals will not be reviewed until June/July (this is later than originally scheduled). Not sure how long the review process takes but hopefully a decision will be made by end of summer, early fall.

Default No update on hospital

No - the new date given by DHEC is early April to collect input from the communities, so nothing yet!

The hospitals sure are spending a lot of $$$ on advertising. I hope a decision is made soon or they may all be broke! Plus, I'm tired of the ads.

We may never see a hospital in Fort Mill! The first time around the YC Council had closed door visits with DHEC and walla PMC was chosen. Presbyterian and Carolina Healthcare sue and the court threw out the decision. All three hospitals had to resubmitt new applications.

In 1998 Jane Spratt McColl donated right at 400 acres to the Culture and Heritage Foundation for a new museum, The C&H Foundation formed a subsidiary SDG that accepted $4.5 million dollars from a developer to build homes and businesses around the new museum. The deal fell through when the housing market bottomed out and now SDG owes the developer $3.78 million dollars by June. SDG has advised they have a potential buyer for the land Carolina Healthcare if they are awarded the new hospital.

Now how does that affect us ... the York County Museum is taxpayer funded. The YC Council appoints the Culture and Heritage Commission to manage the museum operations. The Culture and Heritage Foundation and their subsidiary SDG all feed back to the York County Council.

So if C&H Foundation members have attempted to persuade DHEC to go with Carolina Healthcare I am sure PMC and Presbyterian will throw another lawsuit in the mix.
