Anybody late today?
The sign said expect lane closures from 7pm-7am. I was still sitting on the road at 8:30am.
The construction caused major backups on 160 and all of the side roads.
Is there an alternate route between Fort Mill and Ballantyne (besides I485)?

Thank you!

Plenty of alt routes!

1) Take a LEFT at Route 21 (at the peach stand) and then follow that for several miles, and follow the signs for "Pineville/51". Take 51 through Pineville, and then take a RIGHT at the Marathon gas station. That will take you right into Ballantyne.

2) Take a LEFT at Route 21 (at the peach stand)and then follow that for several miles, and take a RIGHT at the Bloom grocery store. Follow that road (by the old amusement park) until the end, and take a LEFT. That will take you out to the same place as the directions above, except further down.

3) You can try I-77 North to 485 and get off at the Pineville exit, and just keep going straight until you get to Ballantyne.

There's alternate routes if you're coming from the south, but if you're going the opposite way you're limited to 160. I was so aggravated on that road this morning!!

I guess, I could go down 521 to Hwy 5 or 9, I forget which to get from the back end of Fort Mill to Rock Hill. I would hope that they would stick to the times posted, but oh well.

Ugh this frustrated me too. I live in Indian Land, but my son goes to school in Fort Mill. Since he's with me every weekend, I got stuck in that mess on Monday morning. And then I had to go to the Steele Creek area Tuesday morning for a dentist appt, so that mess on top of all the traffic from the storm made 160 a nightmare. I need to try and find an alternate route I guess. I hope they at least finish it soon!

If your coming from Indian Land, you can take Doby's Bridge Road to get to Fort Mill.

Thanks, Everyone!
It looks like the best alternate routes (for me) are Doby Bridge Road to the south and through part of the Regent Park to the north.

It seems to only have been a problem on Monday for me. It's been smooth sailing since. I'm happy to see the repaving. I apent about $1000 fixing the alignment and busted tires and rims from the potholes last year that I saw come back this year

Yeah, I agree with DaysofThunder -- there are two roads that go from downtown Fort Mill to 521 in Indian Land (and just next to Ballantyne) 160 or Doby's Bridge Road. Just take Doby's Bridge at the fork in Fort Mill, and then a left onto 521 and you'll be all set!
