We are new to the Fort Mill area (we love it here) and my 6 year old is interested in learning how to play the guitar. Can anyone recommend a good teacher in the surrounding area? Thanks!!

Guitar is one of the harder instruments to learn. My daughter started at 7 1/2 and even that was pushing it. Their little fingers need to be able to really stretch. Make sure if she does start instruction that the teacher be very patient and is familiar with teaching young children. Good Luck!

I cannot recommend anyone in particular, but you might call down to Winthrop University's music department or check with the staff at your child's school. There are a few folks who teach guitar in Rock Hill, listed in the York County yellow pages. You might want to check them out, too. I just moved here not too long ago, so I'm not to up on things like this yet. I play guitar, and started my music education with piano at age 6. I think it's wonderful that you are supporting your child's interest. Wish I could be of more help. Good luck.

Did you find anyone Idbones? I just moved to Fort Mill myself and my 12yo daughter has been asking for drums for Christmas - I'd love to be able to find someone near Baxter Village to give her some lessons. (I'm not totally crazy - I bought her electronic drums...)

Kendra's Academy of Dance is now offering guitar lessons. I only have experience with dance lessons, which my daughter enjoys.

Just got a flyer in the mail yesterday, It was for music lessons for Piano, Guitar and Voice. The person's name is Michael Neukam, and is supposedly the local minister at All Nations Church in Charlotte. His number is 704-201-4826.
You might want to call the church and check his references. Good luck.
P.S. the flyer was distributed in Fort Mill.

Try Woodie's Music in Rock Hill. One of the last privately owned music and musical instrument stores that I know of, and they give lessons as well.
