I seem to remember something years ago about a story about the water quality in Indian Land. Now that I've moved here I wanted to bring the issue back up to see if anyone knows any updates or information.

I don't know anything official but my water tastes bad, so I've been drinking bottled water lately. I plan on getting it tested but I just haven't done it yet. I'm curious if other Indian Land residents notice a strange taste.

Wait...you mean that rotten egg smell is not normal?!

Yeah, its not the best tasting water out of the tap and I pray that the water filter I use catches most of chemicals used to purify the water as I remember that they had switched the chlorination method to something else thats more eco friendly.

Either way no matter where you go potable water is going to be a problem as more demands are placed on systems around the world. Between run off, purification of chemicals in the water before treatment, and of course waste by products, I wouldn't say this is a Indian Land exclusive issue.

I'm glad someone else mentioned this! We just moved here from Tennessee, and our water tastes h-o-r-r-i-b-l-e. I've never had this problem before. Very frustrating.

Alot of good info can be found at the county's water and sewer district website.

Lancaster Water and Sewer District - Lancaster, South Carolina

Jake Ryan - although the following change was made last year, could this be what you were thinking about ?

http://www.lcwasd.org/Chloramines%20Installation%20Notification%20to%20R etail%20Customers.pdf (broken link)

The district had several months of tests in late 2009 (?) that exceeded recommended limits in one category, and switched to Chloramines to correct the problem.
