We have been searching for a home within 45 minutes of Ballentyne for 7 months now and finally found what looks like home outside of Lancaster, near Buford. We are from small town Virginia and don't WANT big city life 24/7. I worked at a public high school so am very familiar with how school systems work and also realize that parents have a LOT to do with how a child does at WHATEVER school they attend. SO, my other issues are about lifestyle and friendliness to outsiders in the area. I don't see any community pool or lake but I may be wrong, however, on our visits, the people seem VERY friendly and helpful. We want a quiet, country lifestyle where we can be in Charlotte in an hour but want to feel at "home" in our new area. ANYTHING you can post about it or living there would be great. We have best friends in Indian Land and loved it but wanted more land and a horse or two. thanks in advance for ANYTHING!

Most people are friendly. Buford is a good area, out in the country. There is a pool in town that is run by Lancaster County Parks & Rec. It offers public swimming every day in the afternoon. There is also a nice indoor pool at USCL, but you have to pay a membership. As far as lakes, there is a nice park right over the border in NC called Cane Creek, they have a nice swimming area. Other then that people just go and get in the river/lake whereever. I think you will probably like the Buford area.
