One thing im not understanding is this: Rock Hill and Fort Mill are both in York County, yet, the gas prices are at an extreme gap. Around Carrowinds, as well as at exit 88, gas is 3.39-3.49. Gas in Fort Mill off exit 85 is 3.35-3.39. What is crazy, is you drive 3 miles south, and gas is 3.17-3.19. What is the deal? Both are in the same county, both off the highway. Ive been driving to Chery Rd weekly to get gas, as saving 30 cents a gallon is a no brainier.
It is because they are so close to the NC border. They can charge more and people will still pay it because it is still much cheaper than getting gas in Charlotte.
Same thing happens on 521 from the state line clear down to Doby's Bridge Road. Gas is always .25-.30 more expensive than in Rock Hill. I see more NC cars in that area than SC when I'm driving home. Those of us who live down there feel like we are getting constantly ripped off. Then to top it off there are 2 stations tacking on .05-.07/gal for using credit cards!
Of course at least the gas tax that they DO pay is going to SC and not NC!!

You are a victim of N.C. taxes it seems. North Carolinians drive just far enough to save which is 521 near the state line, and Gold Hill Rd. etc.
They are comparing the prices they get at stations in those locations, to what they pay in Charlotte.
Most have no idea they can save 20 cents more by driving 3 miles to Cherry Rd. 6 miles round trip = maybe 1/4 gallon if they get 24 miles per gallon. So, they might save $3.00 on a tank full of cheaper gas at Cherry Rd. for a 15 gallon tank. But they lose about 50 cents of that in cost to travel further south. So, they save maybe $2.50 on a 15 gallon tank if their car gets 24pmg.
I almost always get my gas here: Energy USA on Anderson Rd.
I say it's price gouging - who do we file a complaint with?
I don't see how what they are doing could be construed as price gouging. They are asking apparently what the market will bear. People from Charlotte will come down right across the border and be more than happy to pay 10 or 15 cents less for gas. Most of us who live in Fort Mill, on the other hand, will be more than happy to drive down to Love's or Cherry Road and pay even less. That's how the market works.
Only about 2-3 miles away, the BP at Lesslie Hwy. and Anderson Rd. is $3.23.
Now, does BP give one station a 8 cents per gallon discount?
Shouldn't the price at all BP's in Rock Hill be the same?
Is it a coincidence, that the only BP that takes Bi-Lo's fuel perks is the Lesslie Hwy./Anderson Rd. station?
If you have 10 cents in Fuel Perks you give up 8 cents of it, because they have higher prices (.08) than a BP less than 3 miles away. Not worth driving that far to save 2 cents using Fuel Perks.
