So sad the goat farmers on 160 are gone - I'm looking to rent a couple goats to remove some English ivy from my backyard. It would probably only take the goats a couple days to get rid of it.
Anyone know the Hucks family personally that can provide me with contact info to see if they'd be interested in letting me pay for them for the use of their goats?
I don't know anyone with goats, but you might try calling Farmers Exchange in Rock Hill. They might know of someone, they have been in business here since 1939, Tel: 324-2925. Also you could call the Clemson Extension in York 684-9919.
On Hwy 160 going to York, just after you pass Shiloh Road traffic light on the left side of the road there is a farm there with lots of goats. I don't know who they are but we always see the goats when driving to York.
Thanks for the info, CarolinaWoman! I'd rate your post, but CityData says I've been giving you too much rating love lately and that I need to spread it around a bit. =)

Can you post back if you find someone? I am curious as well, have some blackberries that need to become some good quality goat feed.
I made several calls on Friday but no luck. Farmer's Exchange did mention they have a message board in their store where I can post a sign asking for goat owners to call me, but other than that they weren't aware of anyone specifically renting out their goats.
Clemson Extension said the same - don't know anyone specifically, but he said he would keep his ear out and keep my information should he hear of anyone providing that service.
I've also submitted a question to a rent-a-goat website I found to see if they have service coverage in York County.
Wonder where the goat farmer went with his goats. I sure loved seeing the goats as I drove by. That is one of the things I like about living here - seeing the horses on 160 past the Peach Stand, and seeing the goats going toward Gold Hill on 160.
I know that goats also eat kudzu, which is a magnificent, environmentally friendly win-win.
