Just curious, it seems that I see a disproportionate amount of Steelers sticker, license plate, flags etc. What is the deal with all the Steelers fans here so far from home?

There have been a few companies move some operations from Pittsburgh to Charlotte with USAir being one of the largest. You'll find a lot of Giants fans here as well with the banking industry. Also, I expect Bengals fans to come out of the woodwork this year with the Chiquita Headquarters moving here. I already saw that at a Charlotte Knights game earlier this year. The Knights were playing Louisville (Cincy's affiliate), and 80% percent of the fans at the game were wearing Reds gear.

I will never get it. Pittsburgh isnt close to Charlotte (8-9 hr drive) yet we have TONS of fans down here. The Panthers started in 96 yet I dont see as many Panthers fans vs the Steelers fans. Ive asked a few of the Steelers fans and they arent even from there. I wonder why nobody latched onto the Falcons? Even the Redskins. Im not saying you MUST like a team based on proximity but its so strange so many are into the Steelers.

Soon you will see even more Browns fans as the Ohio cars are increasing by the week.

Pittsburgh Steeler fans are due hard fans. I am from Pittsburgh and had to leave the horrible weather behind and move to a sunnier location. I suspect I am not the only one who has left due to the sucky weather!!

down the road here in greenville i've witnessed the same thing. the vast majority are penn natives from the western pa side of the state. i see the occasional bengals, lions, browns, giants, bills attire but nothing like the steelers fan base. greenville is roughly right in between charlotte and atlanta so you'd assume loyalty to one of those two teams but i guess not.
