I'd be a little skeptical of claims Walmart will build on 21. Don't forget, they also plan a store in Indian Land, 2 additional stores in RH, and a store in LW. But I agree, 1 Walmart is enough for FM/TC right now.
I don't know about Walmarts in the Carolinas, but in CT, Walmarts carry different products depending on the communities where they are in. We went to one in Avon, CT where their coffee shop carried coffee to rival Starbucks, their linen selections were not the same as the ones in other locations, and yes, there were pricing and brand differentials compared to other stores even within the same county. Walmart must have a business model in mind, and from our experience, that Walmart did not bring in the undesirable elements from the other towns into this town, as people always fear the big box store would, because the commodities in the store are not in their price points. Because the clientele were local to the area, we did not experience parking at the parking lot to be a contact sport issue. Neither did we experience merchandise being pulled off the shelves and left on the ground.
I do shop Walmart but would not go into their other practices. I like them for their pricing and merchandise, especially for those where I am brand indifferent.

I don't know about 2 more in Rock Hill ... I know about one more in Rock Hill ... the zoning has been approved at the corner of Hwy 161 and Miller's Pond Road in Newport. Construction was approved to front on Miller's Pond Rd not Hwy 161. This again is maybe 10 miles from the York Walmart and however many miles from the Walmart at Galleria.
Well, the "little" walmarts are basically supercenters. They just arent 24/7. See the ones off 521 and near Clover. They are HUGE, but, only open 6am to 12pm.
We already got the MASSIVE walmart in Tega Cay, which, everyone in Fort Mill goes to. There is already a walmart supercenter right off 485 and south tryon, do we need one in between the 2?
I like walmart, but, we really dont need them everywhere.
Walmart still has plans to build on Flint Hill Rd off of Hwy 21 in Fort Mill. They are building a supercenter. I have friends on that road and Walmart wants to be a good neighbor and a representative of Walmart has discussed their plans with the neighbors that had concerns.
We have Tega Cay, Lake Wylie just opened on Hwy 274, Galleria Mall Walmart, Hwy 161 in Newport which is open 24/7, York Walmart and now off the Carowinds Blvd exit on Flint Hill Rd. That will be six locations!! If you look at a map ... using the Catawba River as the center .... there is a Walmart all the way around ... we are never far from a Wally World!
When are they going to build a Target in Fort Mill?
