Duracell has announced its plant at 1551 Lancaster Bypass West, Lancaster, South Carolina 29720-4716, which produces AA batteries, will close by 2019. Approximately 430 jobs will be eliminated.

I never knew this was there.

Sadly, lancaster doesnt seem to be able to buy a break. Though wasnt something going to go back into the old Spinning Mills?

Lancaster has been hit in job losses. I think Springs Industries would be the most severe blow.

Northern Lancaster County seems to experience the most retail growth due to being next to Charlotte. Especially Indian Land.

Lancaster County needs to be creative in attracting industries and jobs to replace those that are being lost and to add to the workforce. Any additional job loses could result in a population decrease and businesses and services closing or reducing services.

The gold mine in Lancaster will start ramping up operations this year and will eventually employ 800 workers for the expected 13 yr life of the mine.
