I've been reading some frightening reviews of the local hospitals.

Anyone from the Northeast who can give a comparison?

People here tell me I'm crazy to consider moving South; specifically due to the lower standards of care.....

It doesn't make sense to me seeing how many people are moving to Fort Mill.

Thank you!

We go across the border to NC hospitals. Our SC insurance is fine there. Most of my docs are through CMC system, but there is Presbyterian too. If you had anything uber serious that CMC couldn't handle Raleigh & Atlanta are only 3-4 hours a way. I find the healthcare better than I could get when I lived in Maine.

We won't go to anyone affiliated with Piedmont in Rock Hill. Heard too many horror stories, but some of my co workers have no issues.

We moved here from Va Beach several years ago .Even though we live in Fort Mill we always go to CMC hospital in pineville. Piedmont hospital in Rock Hill has a terrible reputation. My husband passed out from heat exhaustion and we called 911 and told them to take him to CMC. They took exceptional care of him. I'm a social worker and work with low income families that have no choice but to go to Piedmont in rock hill. They were treated horribly. One client went in for chest pains and sat in the emergency room from 3pm until 2 am before she was seen.

CMC-Pineville is highly regarded, as are Novant (formerly Presbyterian) and CMC-Main in Charlotte.

From personal experience, Piedmont in Rock Hill is awful and I'll never go back there.

CMC in Pineville as well. We're from NJ and we used to go to Summit Medical Group which had Overlook Hospital and I'd compare them to the same level and quality.
CMC has clinics in Fort Mill, Rock Hill and a couple of hospitals in Charlotte.

Ft Mill is a relatively small suburb of Charlotte.... most folks go into Charlotte for their serious medical care ....FYI ... CMC is a nationally ranked gold shield hospital (USNEWS) ....Overlook in Summit ... is not...as an aside ... Duke is rated in the top 20 hospitals in the country.... no New Jersey hospitals are ....
