The house completely burned to the ground on Saturday morning. There is nothing about it in the FM Times online or the Herald online. Does anyone know what happened?
I'm not sure if they do it here, but where I used to live -- If a house was going to be torn town (for example, if the land was rezoned, or they were going to rebuild), sometimes the city or the owner would let the fire department use it for training. One clue is they wait for a really calm day, so the smoke goes straight up to minimize impact to the neighbors. If it's a rebuild, the owner saves a lot of money on the tear town because the fire department would usually let it burn to the ground. Everyone wins. These "training sessions" usually weren't mentioned in the news. Not sure if that's what happened in this case, but it sounds plausible anyway.
I am interested too. Guess we will find when the Fort Mill Times comes out - did not see anything in the Herald either but with the recent shooting over there this is kind of scary -- this is a good part of a safe town.
The Herald had a front page story on it today, I believe.
